What do you love about working at OM1?
It has been said multiple times before as well – PEOPLE. The collaborative, jovial and, more importantly, non-political interactions have been a breath of fresh air. Also love the fact that I get to learn something new EVERYDAY!! Love being a part of such a fantastic group.
Where did you grow up?
I grew up in Mumbai, India – one of the thriving port cities of the country (pictures on the left), before moving to Cleveland, Ohio for my clinicals/research. Grew up not far from a beach. In fact, life’s been a full circle – in case folks do not know, I have moved back to Mumbai, and am currently in the same house I grew up in!! Happy to be a tour guide or
provide some travel tips.
Tell us about a favorite vacation you had…
I love traveling, and seeking out newer destinations – most likely NOT the famous tourist destinations though. Couple of my most fav vacations have been Alaska (and walking over an active glacier) and Rajasthan, India (walking through 9th century temples, castles in the middle of a lake or an arid desert has been exhilarating)
What is one fact about you that your coworkers might not know about
you?
I love and have a passion for cooking – just short of being a certified chef. Being a professional chef could be my 2nd (err… 3rd or 4th or 5th) career!!
What are you reading right now and what are some of your favorite
books?
I am currently enjoying “1491: New Revelations of the Americas before Columbus”, some very interesting factoids about civilizations in that era. Some of my fav books include World War II – era books and anything with an espionage theme. [and Harry Potter, of course!!]
Where did you grow up?
In Maryland, just outside of Washington DC. I was so spoiled by my proximity to the Smithsonian growing up! We’d go several times a year.
My favorite museums are the National Gallery of Art and the Air and Space Museum, and I really love the Lincoln Memorial/Reflecting Pool.
What are you reading now and what are some of your favorite books?
Currently reading Full Throttle by Joe Hill, one of his excellent short story collections. I’m a big horror fan and typically read over 50 books a year, so pinning down favorite books is difficult and there are far too many to list! If you need horror novel recommendations, don’t hesitate to ask!
What is one fact about you that your coworkers may not know about you?
I have a Master’s degree in Forensic Psychology, trained with FBI profilers, and worked as a crime analyst for the first several years of my career. It’s a lot more boring than the TV shows/movies make it out to be, I promise.
What is one fact about you that your coworkers might not know about you?
I am a huge foreign language nerd – majored in German in college alongside physics, speak passable Spanish and rusty French, and have dabbled on and off in a whole bunch of others. During the pandemic I’ve been working on Malayalam.
What made you decide to come to OM1?
I was really excited by the potential to do amazing things with data and AI in healthcare, and thought OM1 had the raw material and talent to make it happen in a way many other ‘similar’ companies really don’t. Two years in, I’m still very glad I came, and very excited about our future.
What’s the coolest thing you are working on right now?
We have so many exciting things going on in OM1 AI heading into 2023! For me the coolest priorities are building out our personalized medicine tools for patients and providers, and expanding uses for our patient phenotyping technology.
Tell us about a favorite vacation you had.
Right before joining OM1 I spent a week in the Azores, a Portuguese archipelago in the middle of the Atlantic. It’s like a blend of Iceland, Ireland, and Hawaii – only a four-hour direct flight from Boston! 100% would recommend, and looking forward to getting back once we can travel again.
